Yes, Heartopia is free to play! You can download and enjoy the full game without paying. There are optional in-game purchases available for cosmetic items like outfits and home decorations, but these are entirely optional and don't affect gameplay.

Yes. Heartopia is an online multiplayer life sim and requires an internet connection to log in, sync progress, and access events. You can still play solo in shared towns if you prefer.

Community reports indicate you cannot move a character between servers. If you switch servers, the game starts a new character and your original progress stays on the original server. Friends and multiplayer features only work on the same server, so coordinate with friends before you start.

Heartopia requires an internet connection to play. This is necessary for saving your progress to the cloud, participating in multiplayer features, and accessing seasonal events and updates.

There are two main ways to restore stamina in Heartopia:

• Sleeping - Go to bed in your home to fully restore your stamina and advance to the next day
• Eating Food - Consume food items from your inventory for smaller energy boosts throughout the day

Prize Bubbles are floating rewards that can contain blueprints, clothing, gold, materials, and Wish fragments. They refresh after the daily reset and appear in rotating locations like Town Square, Onsen cliffs, Fishing Village, Amazing Forest, and Flower Field.

There are many ways to earn money in Heartopia:

• Sell fish you catch while fishing
• Harvest and sell crops and flowers from your garden
• Sell insects you catch
• Sell ores and gems from mining
• Complete quests from NPCs
• Cook and sell prepared dishes

Higher quality items sell for more, so focus on leveling up your hobbies!

Open your Watch menu (top-right icon on mobile or Tab on PC), go to Settings (gear icon) > Redeem Code, enter the code, and confirm. Rewards arrive in your mailbox. Codes are case-sensitive, so copy them exactly. See our Codes page for the latest active codes.

New areas on Whale Island unlock as you progress through the game. This happens through:

• Completing main story quests
• Reaching certain player levels
• Befriending specific NPCs
• Leveling up certain hobbies

When you run out of stamina, you won't be able to perform activities that consume energy (like fishing, gardening, or mining). You can still walk around, talk to NPCs, shop, and decorate. To continue energy-consuming activities, you'll need to eat food or go to sleep.

Most daily systems reset at 6:00 AM server time. Check the in-game clock to confirm your server time and see what resets on the Daily Reset guide.

There are 7 core hobbies in Heartopia:

• Fishing - Catch fish in rivers, ponds, and ocean areas
• Gardening - Grow crops and flowers
• Cooking - Create dishes from ingredients
• Bug Catching - Catch insects and butterflies
• Birdwatching - Photograph birds and wildlife
• Cat Care - Raise and bond with cats

Each hobby has its own experience bar that fills as you perform related activities. For example:

• Fishing levels up by catching fish
• Gardening levels up by planting and harvesting
• Bug Catching levels up by catching insects

Higher hobby levels unlock new items, tools, and abilities!

Rare creatures often have specific requirements:

• Time of Day - Some only appear morning, afternoon, evening, or night
• Weather - Certain creatures only appear in rain, sun, etc.
• Season - Many are seasonal exclusives
• Location - Each area has unique spawns

Heartopia players currently use two practical routes:

• Manual Play - Use pianos and other instruments to play your own note patterns by hand
• Official Score Route - Unlock the Instrument & Music Score path, then buy songs from Annie's Music Store
• Community Notes - Many players share numbered notation for songs on community hubs

Yes! Heartopia has multiplayer features that let you play with friends. You can visit each other's islands, participate in activities together, and send gifts. Add friends using their player ID or connect through social features.

To increase friendship with NPCs:

• Talk to them daily
• Give them gifts they like
• Complete their quests
• Help them with tasks

Befriending NPCs unlocks many benefits:

Heartopia uses automatic cloud saving. Your progress is saved automatically as you play. Make sure you have a stable internet connection to ensure your progress is saved properly. You can also manually trigger a save from the settings menu.

Yes! Your progress is tied to your account, not your device. Simply log in with the same account on your new device and your progress will sync automatically. This works across PC, iOS, and Android. Visit our Cross-Platform Guide for details.

If you're experiencing performance issues:

• Lower graphics settings in the options menu
• Close other running applications
• Ensure your device meets minimum requirements
• Restart the game or your device
• Check for game updates
• On PC: Set the game to "High Priority" in Task Manager
• On PC: Update your GPU drivers to the latest version

Include your UID, device info, what you were doing, and screenshots if possible.

Choose based on your location for best connection:

• America (UTC-5) - North/South America players
• Global (UTC+1) - Europe/Africa/Middle East players
• SEA (UTC+7) - Asia/Oceania players

You can change the server on the login screen before creating a character (look for the small globe icon). Important: Switching servers later starts a new character and your progress does not transfer. Players on different servers cannot add each other as friends, so confirm with friends before creating your character.

There is no official controller support at the moment. Community reports say controllers are not recognized on PC, iPad, or Steam Deck yet. Keyboard and mouse are the standard input, and Steam Deck players can try Steam Input mapping as a workaround.

Not officially. Community members report you can install the TapTap launcher as a non-Steam app and use Proton Experimental, but controls require manual mapping and stability varies. Expect a mouse-style setup for now.

There is no official macOS build right now. Some players reported the iOS app briefly appeared in the Mac App Store and later disappeared, so availability can change. For now, the official downloads are iOS, Android, and PC via TapTap.

Daily reset occurs at 6:00 AM server time. After reset, the following refresh:

• Daily resident requests (5 per day)
• Shop inventory
• Prize Bubble locations
• Some gathering resources

This is a common concern! Prize Bubbles are floating colored bubbles around the map that give blueprints, furniture, coins, and materials. Here's what you need to know:

• Bubbles are PUBLIC resources - Other players can collect them before you
• Locations change DAILY - They spawn in random locations after each reset
• Best time to hunt: Right after daily reset (6:00 AM server time)

Where to look:

• Town Square - most common area
• Onsen Mountain cliffs and high areas
• Fishing Village coastline
• Amazing Forest deep areas
• Flower Field throughout

Tips: Adjust your camera angle to check high places and behind buildings. Some bubbles are hidden!

For specific items like bathroom furniture: These mainly come from Bob's Furniture Shop (unlocks with D.G. level), crafting with blueprints, or as quest rewards.

First, don't panic! There is no widely confirmed "item disappearing bug." Items usually appear to be missing due to:

• Items sent to Mailbox - Quest rewards and gifts go to your mailbox, not inventory directly. Check your mailbox!
• Accidentally stored - Check your Storage Boxes at home
• Furniture placed somewhere - Check if you placed it in your home
• Network sync issue - Items may not save if you had connection problems

If items are truly missing:

1. Check ALL storage locations (inventory, mailbox, storage boxes)
2. Restart the game to refresh data
3. If still missing, report to Discord #support with your UID, item name, and when it disappeared

Yes, this is expected. Closed beta tests were documented as data-wipe phases, so progress does not carry over to launch.

Community timeline (subject to updates):

• CBT1 (Nov 4-18, 2025) - Data reset
• Final Test (Dec 11-23, 2025) - Data reset
• Global Launch (Jan 8, 2026) - Progress is permanent once live

Beta rewards: Some regions grant mailbox rewards for beta participation when you log in with the same account. If you expected rewards, check your mailbox and contact support if they are missing.

Note: Support cannot restore beta progress after data wipes.

There are multiple ways to obtain furniture:

• Bob's Furniture Shop - Buy with Gold/Wishes (more items unlock with D.G. level)
• Crafting at Workbench - Use blueprints + materials
• Prize Bubbles - Collect floating bubbles on the map for blueprints
• D.G. Level Rewards - New recipes unlock as you level up
• Quest Rewards - Complete main/daily quests (check mailbox)
• Blanc's Shop - Garden-related furniture (daily refresh)
• Gacha System - Seasonal/limited furniture sets

Your UID (User ID) is your unique player identifier used for adding friends and contacting support.

How to find your UID:

1. Press Tab to open your Watch
2. Click on your character avatar/profile
3. Your UID is displayed there (format: letters + numbers, e.g., ABC123456)
4. You can tap to copy it directly

Tip: Your UID is also shown in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Steps to add a friend:

1. Press Tab to open your Watch
2. Select Friendship Journal app
3. Click the magnifying glass icon (bottom-left)
4. Enter your friend's UID
5. Costs 1 Wish to send friend request

Important: You can ONLY add friends on the same server! Make sure you and your friends chose the same server when creating characters.

Known PC Issue: Some players report their character gets stuck and unable to move after catching a fish. The keyboard may become unresponsive.

Temporary workarounds:

• Alt+Tab method - Switch out of the game and back in
• Open menu - Press ESC to open menu, then close it
• Wait before moving - Wait 2-3 seconds after catching before moving
• Avoid rapid inputs - Don't spam keys during fishing animation

If nothing works: Restart the game. This is a known bug being discussed in the Steam Community.

Report to developers: Include your PC specs, video clip if possible, and whether you use keyboard or controller.

Possible causes:

• Incomplete roof coverage - Even small gaps can let weather in. Check every tile in Building Mode.
• Multi-floor issue - Roof must be on the HIGHEST level, not just the first floor
• Visual-only bug - Sometimes weather shows indoors but doesn't affect gameplay

Things to try:

• Enter Building Mode and re-place roof pieces
• Check for missing corner pieces or gaps
• Add ceiling/floor between levels
• Restart game to refresh visual effects

If problem persists: Report via Discord with screenshots of your house exterior and the indoor weather effect.

This is a common misunderstanding! Heartopia has two separate systems:

1. Snow Mode (Settings toggle)

• This is purely a visual/cosmetic setting
• It changes the overall appearance of the world (snowy landscape theme)
• Players can toggle this on/off based on personal preference
• Does NOT control actual in-game weather events

2. In-Game Weather (Game system)

• This is controlled by the game automatically
• Weather cycles through sun, rain, snow, etc. based on seasons and game mechanics
• Affects gameplay (certain fish/bugs only appear in specific weather)
• Players cannot turn this on or off

So if you see snow falling in-game: That's the game's weather system at work during winter season. The "Snow Mode" setting in options only changes the visual theme appearance, not the actual weather events.

Tip: Some players prefer to keep Snow Mode OFF for a cleaner look while still experiencing seasonal weather naturally.

This is one of the most frequently reported issues. Multiple players experience login timeout errors preventing game access.

Quick fixes to try:

• Check your internet connection - Try switching between WiFi and mobile data
• Restart your device completely - Not just the game, fully power cycle your device
• Clear game cache - Settings > Apps > Heartopia > Clear Cache (mobile)
• Check server status - Look for maintenance announcements on official Discord
• Wait 10-15 minutes - Server sync issues sometimes resolve automatically
• Reinstall the game - Only as last resort, make sure account is bound first

If you still can't login after 24 hours:

• Report to Discord #support with your UID (if you know it)
• Include: device model, OS version, exact error message, and when issue started
• Community reports VPN sometimes helps for regional connectivity issues

This is one of the most common quest bugs reported by players. The quest marker appears but watering plants doesn't register progress.

Proven workaround that works for most players:

• Go to a friend's garden - Water plants in a friend's garden instead of your own
• Multiple players confirm this completes the quest successfully

Other things to try:

• Make sure you're using the correct watering can for the quest
• Try watering different plant types (crops, flowers, trees)
• Check if quest has a timer - wait for it to reset if needed
• Abandon and re-accept the quest if the game allows it
• Restart the game to refresh quest tracking

If still stuck: Contact support via Discord #support with your UID and quest name. This is a known issue affecting many players.

Pet pathfinding issues are one of the most reported pet bugs. Pets frequently glitch through floors and roofs, especially in multi-story buildings.

Quick fixes:

• Restart the game - This usually resets pet position to your home
• Use "Recall Pet" function - If available in your pet menu
• Try leaving and re-entering your home
• Fast travel to another location and back

Prevention tips:

• Keep pets on ground floor only - Avoid placing pet beds on upper floors
• Don't place pet furniture near stairs or elevated structures
• Avoid thin floors or structures with gaps
• Keep pet beds away from map edges

If pet remains stuck after restart: Contact support with your UID for manual pet repositioning. Include screenshots showing where the pet is stuck.

Before assuming it's a bug, check these common issues:

• Check ALL recipe tabs - Recipes may appear in unexpected categories (Cooking, Crafting, Furniture, etc.)
• Check your mailbox - Some recipes arrive as items in mail, not automatic unlocks
• Restart the game - This forces a recipe list refresh from the server
• Verify the purchase - Check your purchase history to confirm payment went through
• Check recipe requirements - Some recipes require certain hobby levels or story progress to craft

If recipe is genuinely missing after checking everything:

1. Wait 24 hours - some purchases have server sync delays
2. If still missing, prepare this info for support:
   • Your UID
   • Exact recipe name
   • Where you bought it (shop, NPC name)
   • Purchase time and date
   • Payment receipt if applicable
3. Report via Discord #support or in-game feedback
4. Support can manually unlock recipes if purchase is verified
